GETA consulting and curriculum development uses a qualitative research design approach, with a phenomenological methodology. Qualitative research gathers, analyzes and interprets data from individuals or groups. A phenomenological methodology allows us to gain understanding and construct meaning. We guide our actions from a constructivist and transformative philosophical worldview. Through constructivism, we seek understanding from multiple participants and look at the complexity of views. Through a transformative lens, the data is intertwined with policy and policy change agenda that disrupts social oppression. This approach gives participants a voice, raises consciousness, and/or advances an agenda for change to improve lives. We interpret the essence of these experiences to gain new knowledge, findings and offer suggestions to strengthen training modules. The training sessions use positive psychology and a humanistic approach for psychological safety.
