Description

We model discrete fractures and fracturing explicitly in continuum analysis. Fracture initiation, deformation, and propagation without re-meshing. Preexisting and new fractures. We calculate the dip, dip direction, and initial aperture of new fractures. Update the aperture of a fracture segment as the fracture deforms. Use continuum framework to incorporate 3D fracture distributions seamlessly. Use the same domain grid to model several realizations of a preexisting fracture distribution, for probabilistic assessment. Preexisting fractures in familiar formats from geologic analysis. Proprietary computer codes CanFrac and CanFracEnv coupled sequentially. Also models rebar mechanics explicitly for mechanical analysis of reinforced concrete. Real-scale modeling. Numerical modeling support for hydrologic assessment of surface and subsurface excavations; stability for mining, petroleum, and civil engineering; hydraulic fracturing; geologic disposal of nuclear waste;
