Underground Coal Mining

This includes establishments primarily engaged in one or more of the following: (1) underground mining of bituminous and anthracite coal; (2) developing bituminous and anthracite coal underground mine sites; and (3) underground mining and beneficiating (e.g., cleaning, washing, screening, and sizing) of bituminous and anthracite coal.

These establishments may produce byproducts, such as methane.

Establishments in this category are primarly engaged in (1) operating facilities for separating and sorting recyclable materials from nonhazardous waste streams (i.e., garbage) and/or (2) operating facilities where commingled recyclable materials, such as paper, plastics, used beverage cans, and metals, are sorted into distinct categories.
