PainShield is a surface acoustic wave ultrasound device that induces soft tissue healing while reducing acute pain. This is achieved through tissue cavitation and diathermy as a result of the 90 kHz ultrasound wave impacting the effected tissues in an auto-regulated 30 minute active, 30 minute passive treatment cycle. The device can provide 6.5 hours of therapy (3.25 active, 3.25 passive) per charge and has been designed to be used either while the patient is awake or sleeping without risk of thermal injury. The additive therapy provided by surface based ultrasonic wave production has been shown to produce both neo-vascularization and pain reducing effects improving overall patient outcomes in a wide range of pathological presentations. Ultrasound therapy has been used as an effective treatment option in clinical settings for decades. PainShield allows that clinical efficacy to be brought into the home environment, safely.
